Data Science Intern

What This Position Is All About:
The successful candidate will focus on driving open source programming culture within the marketing analytics team at SAKS OFF 5TH India. He/ She will be well versed with Python programming, SQL and Machine learning techniques implementation through cloud platform like AWS. He/ She will help the team to perform on adhoc-request, report automation and ML products development. Forward thinking is the key to this role as new technologies and opportunities present themselves.
Who You Are:
Gather and translate business requirements on key projects
Effectively manage project assignments and documentation, including establishing and communicating overall priority and defining project scope, deliverables and timing. Communicate assignment status against goals ongoing.
Test and validate all the models and work closely with counterparts in NY to ensure the models make business sense
Set up automated model scoring process to ensure frequent (monthly) refresh of predictive models
Automate and streamline processes to ensure no downstream impact.
Follow industry best practices, stay up to date with and extend the state of the art in machine learning research and practice, drive innovation by contributing towards publications and patents.
You also have:
A Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics or Data Science or Software Engineering
Demonstrate strong technical skills, including proficiency in some of the following areas: Python, Machine Learning, SQL / PL-SQL, Excel / VBA macro.
Working experience with Tableau, MicroStrategy or other business intelligence tools an asset.
Experience in retail, financial, or other consumer based industries is an asset.
Strong mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of cloud computing platforms like AWS and large-scale databases
